The Pit Stop

Some of the Bruces took a trip down to "The Pit Stop" for an early evening of beer drinkin', burger eatin', Boule playin'. It was a nice experience to have a Piste right next to our dinner table and other boule players and kids abound. Although it's a little hard to get to and easy to run up a large drinking tab, it has a fantastic French feel and four pistes for playing and a crate of boule so you don't even have to be holding to play. They have even started there own club down there and are having their first tournament on Bastille day.

Madagascan open-Bryant Park-6/24/07

Brooklyn Boule's first team participation in an open tournament, held at Bryant Park in Manhattan every year. The Madagascan Open-Select Doubles. Featuring the some of the best petanque players in America and Canada. Taking over the park to play boule all day, was a sight to see, it's such a pristine park with a great mix of people. Thanks, to La Boule New Yorkaise for putting on a fine congregation, food and organization. Although the Bruce's didn't fare too well we played some superb shots and met some very nice people. It's all fun and games any way....right?

Finally we've secured our placement in the Bar Tabac Tournament and the The Bruce's that will be representing are Laura, Mark and Tristram, go team Bruce!

Staurday Night Madagascar Warm Up.... And Some Familiar faces Show Up.

After our rain out on Thursday night, and what a rain out it was. We had to pull our selves together for the Madagascan Open in Bryant park on Sunday. To our pleasant surprise the Piste was full and boule were rolling. Jean, Aya, Sebastian and Dopo ( I hope I have the correct spelling of those names.) from Long Island City. So We played a tandem game on the smaller Piste, then joined them in a game of triple doubles, a little confusing yet enjoyable. Great to see more players taking advantage for the beautiful weather under the oaks.

PISTE POLICE

Our Brooklyn piste is so sacred that we have "New York's Finest" keeping guard whilst we're not playing. Hail to the boys in blue.........

The Fathers Day Event.....

A beautiful day in the park, sun shining and a light breeze to rustle the Oak leaves. Bruce turned up with Bruce Junior, so the Bruces minus Bruce as he was busy, played all afternoon, Christophe showed, proudly sporting his new Boule and proceed conquer the Brooklyn piste and proved that practice does make perfect....not to mention the double carreau....
Clack! Clack! Chrisophe.

Another Entertaining Sunday Afternoon...

A fantastic afternoon of Petanque, as Christophe and Michelle hop the east river and join us in Brooklyn for fun and frolics. Boule flying, and other foreign objects interjecting from all corners of the park, only enhanced the game, people everywhere . Lilly requesting audience as her spectatorshipran dry, Christophe executed a Manhattan tribal Boule dance, to tame the young one as the ladies emptied their sandals of Greenpoint "sand". Blissful beers and the beautiful Oaks shading us from....sun or rain or will it...or maybe...what strange weather we're having. Ah...I love this park with all it's madness, not to mention the unpredictable "piste" that seems to favor the Brooklyn players...... Thanks for coming guys, see you soon.
